THE HUNT - ORIGINS

A cloaked figure stood over a desk in a dimly lit room. Pale blue light emanated from the multiple  monitors on his desk, each filled with images, text and video research about treasures far and  wide. Treasures found, treasures lost and treasures yet to be discovered.

The sound of the monitors provided a constant electric hum as the figure ran his hands over his  creation. His mask hid the smile creeping to the corners of his lips. He had done it.

For years he has been obsessing about the history and mythology behind the search for the  world’s greatest treasures. The search for the lost city of Atlantis, Black Beard’s treasure,  Excalibur, Gengis Khan’s tomb, Templar’s treasure and more. He revered the hunters who  dedicated, and in some cases lost their lives in search of these great mysteries.

Fixated, he spent day and night plotting how he may spawn a new era of treasure and mystery, of  hunters and hunts – and now he had done it.

He stood before a smooth and polished oak lock box. What may have started as a beautiful and  ornate jewelry box was now scared by all manner of devices meant to prevent its holder from  accessing its contents. A digital counter, a microphone, a combination lock and a keyhole.

The figure gently places an ultra luxury watch in the box, closes it, and activates the locking  mechanism.

It worked.

The man behind the mask began to laugh. He had his treasure. Now all he needed was his  Hunters.

The Gamemaster was born.
